Zeus

The chief God of the Greek pantheon. He is God of the sky, storms, lightning and thunder. He also has a tremendous influence in other matters. As Zeus Chronos he is God of the earth and fertility. As Zeus Soter, he is the father and saviour of humanity. As Xenios, he is the protector of the rules of hospitality. As Herkios, he was protector of the house; as Kleisos, he is the guardian of property. As Gamelios, he is the God of Marriage. Zeus is usually depicted as a powerful, regal and bearded man. Sometimes he is shown carrying a thunderbolt; at other times, he is shown with the sceptre of authority.
